Japanese Archery

Medieval Collectables has a full line of Japanese archery products. We carry Japanese bows, Japanese arrows, and Japanese arrowheads.  Our line of Japanese archery is fully functional and can be used for target practice, competition or hunting. Our Japanese bows also called Kyu and arrows are handmade of the finest quality materials. They are authentic to the bows used by the Japanese. Our Japanese arrowheads or yanone are faithfully reproduced from originals in museum collections.

Japanese Armor

Our full sized suits of Japanese armor or Samurai armor provide displays of outstanding quality for the den or the dojo. These Japanese armor sets are crafted by the armorers of CAS Hanwei. The armor has authentic detailing and completely realistic to the orginals used by the Samurai or Japanese warriors. These very affordable pieces are made with traditional styling and materials and are wearable, within a reasonable size range! Our Japanese kabuto & menpo are superbly constructed, beautifully detailed and come with the Japanese armor set.

Japanese Helms

The Japanese helm is also called a Kabuto, which was used with traditional Japanese armor as worn by the Samurai. The Kabuto has a strong bowl which protects the crown of the head and a suspened series of articulated plates to protect the neck. Often the Kabuto or Japanese helm has a crest of the clan, adorned with "Maedate" (Front Crests,) "Wakidate" (Side Crests) or "Ushirodate" (Rear Crests). These can be family or clan emblems, or flat or sculptural objects representing animals, mythical entities, prayers or other symbols.

Japanese Jewelry

Japanese Katanas

The Japanese katana is one of the traditional bladed weapons of Japan. The Japanese katana has a single edged curved blade that was traditionally used by the samurai. The forging process these Japanese katanas typically took days and even weeks to construct and was considered a scared art. Japanese katanas are well known for their strength and sharpness. Japanese Tantos

The functional Japanese tanto is a Japanese dagger, strictly one with a guard and has all of the fittings used on swords.  The Japanese tanto blade rarely exceeds 12 inches in length and usually accompanying a katana. The Japanese tanto was designed primarily as a stabbing instrument, but the edge can be used to slash as well. Japanese tantos were mostly carried by samurai, but commoners did not generally carry them. Japanese Tsubas

The tsuba is the guard of a Japanese sword and was the earliest fitting used with the sword and is the only one that is essential. The tsuba is a plate of metal through which the tang of the sword passes. Japanese Wakizashis

The Japanese Wakizashi is the shorter of the two swords carried by the Japanese Samurai warrior. The blade of the Japanese Wakizashi is about eighteen inches, which is like the long sword but the fittings are often more elaborate.
