The hilt is undecorated and even dirty-looking in places; the pommel and guard are plain wood, with the only embellishment being the gold tab that secures the pommel to the weapon. The grip is rough-hewn, dirty ivory, ribbed in a wave-pattern for a sturdy grip. The sheath looks better by margins; worn leather and gold decorations make it look well-made, although it looks to have suffered the same fate as the gladius.
