Typical of Roman civilian daggers of the time of Julius Caesar (first century B.C.), this replication by Denix is large - 17 inches long overall - and the intricate work of the hilt (silver on the original) is in marked contrast to the blade, which Denix has reproduced in its existing 2000 year-old condition. The dagger by which Caesar met his end was probable very similar to this one, vividly illustrating a momentous occasion in history. The blades of Denix daggers and swords are cast from a metal alloy and cannot be sharpened, making them safe for display in family environments.
