The tanto is a dagger of Japanese origin. The tanto was originally conceived as little more than a short-ranged blade for penetrating armor, and for this reason, it is still used in martial arts today: thus, we offer the Red Oak Tanto Dagger. With a use that is fundamentally the same as a Europen medieval dagger, the tanto is designed primarily for stabbing, although its blade allows for a much more efficient cut then most medieval daggers. Tanto references the length of the weapon: a tanto is typically one shaku long, with a typical Japanese shaku measuring approximately one foot, total. This tanto is a single piece of red oak, carved into the proper rudimentary shape; designs are kept to a minimum, as this is a training weapon, not a decorative piece. Sturdy and strong, the Red Oak Tanto Dagger will not only perform but it will perform well in its assigned tasks.
