The Katana is the word for "sword" in the Japanese language. The katana is a curved, single-edged sword that were traditionally used by the samurai. Medieval Collectables is proud to present our full line of functional oriental katanas. Many of our katanas are great for collectors because they are very authentic and great show pieces.

Functional Oriental Ninja Swords

Ninja swords have straight blades. The Ninja warrior would stab their victims with the ninja sword, almost as if it was a spear.  The ninja sword's straight blade feature made it weaker and less formidable than the Samurai sword.

Shirasaya Swords are a real find.  These are genuine Shirasaya swords from Spain.  Shirasaya swords come with impressive natural wood scabbards and wood handles. The hardwood Shirasaya is solidly made to provide safe storage of the blade. We have shirasayas for Hanwei and Ritter Steel.

Functional Oriental Tai Chi Swords

The Tai Chi was the original sword of the Samurai. Tai Chi swords have become a symbol of status due to the beauty of their decorative sheaths and their elaborate ornamentation. We also have Tai Chi tassels and carrying case to give your sword that look and protection.

Functional Oriental Tantos

The functional tanto is a Japanese dagger, strictly one with a guard and has all of the fittings used on swords.  The tanto blades rarely exceed 12 inches in length and usually accompanying a katana.

Functional Oriental Wakizashis

The Wakizashi is a Japanese short sword normally around 16 to 20 inches long. The Wakizashi was worn by the Samurai with his Katana or long sword. We have wakizashis from manufacturers Hanwei and Cold Steel.

The Zatoichi sword, immortalized by the blind swordsman, is a full-length straight katana, disguised as a simple walking stick.

For the tsuba collector, the enthusiast wishing to create a custom sword or the sword owner wishing to customize an existing sword, Medieval Collectables has a full line of katana tsuba replicating renowned pieces from museum collections. Each tsuba is authentically crafted in iron with gold detailing and has an antique finish that makes it difficult to differentiate from museum-conserved originals.
